Providing Support for Parents and Children

Our Programmes and Services
At Ensuno House, we provide a wide range of tailored services designed to support both parents and children during their stay. Our holistic approach prioritises positive parent-child interactions, with a focus on the importance of play in a child’s development. By fostering strong family bonds and encouraging constructive parenting practices, we help families build a brighter future together. Psychological and psychiatric interventions are available when required, and these are discussed during the initial placement meeting. Coordinated with other care providers, these services allow parents to focus on their personal development while their children are cared for by our trained staff.
Parenting and Risk Assessments

PAMS (Parenting Assessment Manual Software) Assessments:
Structured assessments to evaluate parenting capabilities, guiding interventions to meet each parent's unique needs:
-
Two-Week Placements: For urgent or short-term evaluations, often used for initial assessments or emergency interventions.
-
Standard 12-Week Programme: Our core offering, designed for comprehensive assessments and structured support.
-
Extended Placements: Available for special cases requiring ongoing support beyond the standard timeframe. These placements are tailored to meet unique needs, such as complex family dynamics, additional therapeutic interventions, or preparation for independent living.

What to Expect During the Assessment:
-
Detailed Evaluation: Assessments often follow court instructions and begin with a thorough initial meeting to gather essential information about the family's situation.
-
Tailored Planning: A personalised support plan is created, outlining clear goals and strategies to help the mother achieve them.
-
Stepped Independence: Mothers initially receive close guidance, with support gradually reduced as they gain confidence and skills, always ensuring the baby’s safety and well-being.
-
Transparent Collaboration: We maintain open communication with all involved professionals, including social workers and Guardians, to ensure alignment and clarity. Covert surveillance is never used; however, baby monitors may be implemented during the initial stages of the placement to safeguard the child.

Viability Assessments:
Conducted during intake to determine the suitability of the placement for mothers and their children, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.

Pre-Placement Risk Assessments:
Comprehensive evaluations are undertaken before placement to ensure a mother can safely care for her child in a secure environment.

Graded Care Profile:
This tool assesses and addresses concerns about the quality of care a child is receiving, supporting effective and healthy parenting practices.

Group & Individual Therapy Based Support

The Freedom Programme (Domestic Violence Support):
Available for women and men affected by domestic violence, this programme provides a safe space to explore experiences, rebuild self-esteem, and foster healthier relationships. The impact of domestic violence on both children and adults is addressed. This service is offered on-site and as an outreach programme.

Mindfulness and Wellbeing Groups:
Reflective sessions focus on emotional health, exploring topics such as adult attachment and relationship dynamics. These groups support personal growth and positive parenting.

Men’s Group:
This group helps fathers explore their roles, navigate changing concepts of masculinity, and understand how these dynamics impact family relationships.
Child Development and Family Bonding

Baby Groups (Including Rhyme Time):
Playful, interactive sessions help strengthen parent-child bonds while promoting language development and social skills.

Baby Sensory and Messy Play:
These activities engage babies with sensory stimuli, encouraging early development and fostering meaningful connections between parents and their children.

Baby Massage and Parent Pamper Sessions:
Focused on physical and emotional bonding, these sessions also offer relaxation techniques for parents.

EYF (Early Years Foundation) Activities:
Our trained staff deliver activities supporting early childhood development, including circle time, story sessions, and sensory music, with a focus on attachment and bonding.
